How long have you been in business?
We started Area Wide Inspections in 2004, but before that, Robert had been a roofer and a contractor.
What is your primary product or service?
Home Inspections. We typically work for the person buying the home, but we also offer pre-market home inspections, for homes that are about to be listed on the market. In addition, we offer inspections on new construction, commercial inspections and inspections for municipalities.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Robert has been in the Building Inspection department for the City of Lubbock for 18 years, so home inspections seemed like a logical progression. Robert has been with the City for 18 years, had his Professional Inspector's license (#7731) from the Texas Real Estate Commission since 2004 and has multiple certifications from the International Code Council. They are the organization that writes and revises the Building Codes.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We always invite our clients to attend the inspection so we can go over the results with them. That way if there is something that isn't clear, or they have a specific area of concern, we can address it right then and there.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
No plans to expand right now. Perhaps in the future.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash and personal or business checks.
Which areas do you service?
We serve Lubbock and the surrounding communities. We will travel, if the need arises. We have been as far out as Colorado City, Texas.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
That would be me, Edie Sherwood. Robert, our Inspector is my husband.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
